The Punk rock scene is so diverse and complex that it is not only about social and political issues which often are the content of the loud and fast music of punk, it also has a subculture which deals about the culture, interpretation, and also the representation of the islamic rock music: The Taqwacore.
Taqwacore was originally conceived in the 2003 novel by Michael Muhammad Knight, The Taqwacores. The name is a combination of the word Hardcore and the arabic word Taqwa which means "piety" or "God-fearing". Here are some of the Taqwacore bands.
The Kominas. Pakistani-American Desi punk rock band formed in Lowell, Massachusetts. The band currently includes Basim Usmani (bass), Hassan Ali Malik (guitar) and Abdullah Saeed (drums). (Wikipedia)

The Sagg Taqwacore Syndicate. Sagg Syndicate is R ‘Sagg’ Harris.He is from Utah but resides in Oregon.
The music of the Syndicate is best described as Electronic Eclectic Hip Hop. (Last.fm)
Diacritical. Diacritical is a band that existed from about 2004-2007 with a variety of members. It was formed by front man Omar Waqar. There only full length album was recorded by Don Zientara, and released independantly. There songs touched on social issues like Racism, war, and immigration reform. (Purevolume)
Secret Trial Five. is a Canadian five-piece political punk rock band formed in 2006 in Vancouver. Sena Hussain formed Secret Trial Five with four friends following 9/11, when she became interested in making music with political messages. Secret Trial Five takes its name from a group of Muslims suspected of terrorism currently held without charge in Canada.
